Today's Quote/Picture/Video theme is Canadian teen drama Degrassi. Must be the middle of the end of the end for my blogging career.
It’ll be okay
Looking back on high school, I just remember specific scenarios and thinking, wow, that was such a big deal at the time, but right now it feels like it never even happened. So I guess if I can give any advice, I would just say that everything will pass, and it'll feel like it was a big deal over nothing.
- Nina Dobrev
This advice would eliminate about 70% of the whiny memes that have inundated my internet experience recently. Having perspective is a difficult intellectual task. It means not letting your emotions get the best of you. It means transcending the moment and thinking about things in a broader context. “This too shall pass” is easy to say but harder to remember and live. But everything in life is easier to deal with if you take the time, and do the mental work necessary, to put things in a broader perspective.
Nina Dobrev is best known for her role as Mia Jones in Degrassi. Degrassi is best known for giving Drake his start as Wheelchair Jimmy, which I still always refer to him as. Nobody to date has gotten the reference.
I always love that one
From the 2004 compilation Shamrocks and Shenanigans: The Best of the House of Pain
I kicks the flavor, like Steven King writes horror
If I was a Jew then I'd light a menorah
I got rhymes for ya, excuse me senora
Just assume the position, I'll take my rod
And then I'll go fishin', I'll get your river flowin'
When it comes to givin' pleasure, I'm every woman's treasure
I came to work your body, so let me do my job
You make me sick, like strawberry Quik
Your style is wack, you ain't the mac
So yo step back, get off the crack
Yeah, wheelchair Jimmy. Step back.
