Another bowl down the drain
So our great national Holy Day is finally over. What a downer, huh? Note my sarcasm please.
Proving once again that cheaters always win (if you aren’t cheating you aren’t trying, right?), the New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24. For all the discussion about it people are ignoring that, until Tom Brady’s 4th quarter drives, the game was really boring. And so were the commercials. Katy Perry’s halftime show, while not awful, was pretty bland. Am I alone in thinking this way?
The game was decided, of course, by a Russell Wilson interception on the one yard line with 20 seconds to go. While there are a few contrarians who say otherwise, the question on everyone’s mind is why the Seahawks didn’t give the ball to the best running back in the league. Like Chris Collinsworth (who is terrible usually) said, there’s no disgrace if you lose the game because Marshawn Lynch can’t run for a yard. But to lose it on an interception like that is just embarrassing.
At least the Patriots can’t brag that it’s their moxy that won the game. And Brady can’t take all that much credit either. They won because of a bad play call from Seattle and an incredible, physical move from their defensive back Malcolm Butler. While Brady’s fourth quarter was Brady-ish in its execution, and they couldn’t have won without that either, his desire to give Butler the new truck he won with the MVP he was awarded is telling.
I’m just glad that football, with all its raving and drooling followers, is over. Bring on baseball.
