An old school Weekday Ramble today with some thoughts on Torri’s tirade and country music immortality.
Whoa, Torii
The Twins are in the middle of a significant slump since their hot month of May. Their bats are dead and none of the little things have seemed to go their way.
Torii Hunter’s frustration got the best of him last night. After arguing over balls and strikes earlier in his at bat in the 8th inning he was called out on a pitch that wasn’t even close to a strike. A sort of funny, sort of cool tantrum ensued, with Hunter even throwing his jersey out on the field after his ejection.
Some are saying this was a contrived move to try and ignite the team. I disagree. Hunter can inspire the team in better ways than getting upset and he knows that. The ump called him out intentionally because he had been arguing earlier and that sort of “getting back at you” jackassery is enough to make anyone get angry. Igniting the team may have been on his mind but it’s not like his actions weren’t justified.
Could the team use some spark? Yes. Will this do that? Maybe. Regardless, it’s nice to see some passion injected into this lifeless team.
