Play your quarterback at your own risk…
For two straight weeks the Vikings have decimated a starting quarterback. Granted, the offensive lines of the Chargers and Lions are both suspect, but our soon-to-be Super Bowl champions took advantage at every turn. Almost like they’re for real.
If they beat the Broncos on Sunday I might reconsider my prediction that they’ll only win seven or eight games. Their defense should hold up, it’ll be scoring points against Denver’s top tier defense that might be an issue. My prediction: 13-10 Denver.
Quietly pushing on
It’s October and YOUR Minnesota Twins are somehow still in playoff contention. Sure, their chances are under 20% according to Baseball Prospectus, but that they’re still in the mix at all is a small miracle. The Cleveland Indians were a sexy choice to do well at the beginning of the season, as were the Chicago White Sox. Not to mention the woebegone Detroit Tigers, good grief. But they’re all dead and the Twins, who were projected to be one of the worst teams in the league, are still battling. I love it.
I keep thinking that the shoe will drop eventually but it never does. They’re playing good, consistent baseball, which is something that can’t be said of two teams they're chasing, the Houston Astros and California Angels (sic). I’d rather have them not make the playoffs at all than get embarrassed by the Yankees, though.
