The ESPN Body Issue, Huffington Post and Buzzfeed plagiarize Reddit.

ESPN debuted their Body Issue in 2009. In it athletes, both male and female, appear naked or mostly naked. The pictures they include aren’t meant to turn you on as much as they are to showcase athleticism and, in its own way, the beauty of the human body. They’re actually sort of classy. And creative. But mostly they’re just weird.
This year the different covers of the Body Issue feature former Timberwolves star Kevin Love, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., and Olympic medalists Amanda Bingson and Chantae McMillan. Check them out here. None of them come close to being as cool, or as grotesque, as last year’s spread of my favorite fat first basemen Prince Fielder.
It’s all just annoying clickbait, anyway
Because I blog every weekday I know intimately that it isn’t always easy to find topics to write about. Yet I always make sure that I’m not just stealing somebody else’s ideas for a quick, easy fix. For better or for (mostly) worse, what you see on this site comes from my head. And when it doesn’t I give sources.
It’s sad, though also funny, that some major names do this. As this article from Clickhole lays out, both Buzzfeed and Huffington Post have been caught plagiarizing the same story about celebrity lookalikes from Reddit. Well I guess it isn’t technically plagiarism, because the people who posted the pictures didn’t copyright them or use them originally for commercial purposes, but both sites used what was posted for their “stories” without giving them credit. I’m glad Clickhole called them out on this.
Happy birthday, Bill Haley
Since it’s Bill Haley’s birthday today – he would have been 90 – here’s his all-time classic. Haley began his career as a country singer, leading a band called the Saddlemen, but he made his mark with one of the first rock bands, his Comets.
