Here at Rambling On we abhor being too broad. So for today's Quote/Picture/Video we're focusing on the narrow, specialized topic of time. I actually Googled 'time' just for the hell of it and it told me the current time. Thanks, Google.
Word 'em up
The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
I'm not much of a fan of the materialistic, atheistic musings of Bertrand Russell. He was a brilliant philosopher though, one of the sharpest of the 20th century. This quote wonderfully sticks up for a concept that is too often maligned: leisure. Although time needs to be spent on being productive, a person that works hard (or even works at all) deserves to enjoy their holy time called leisure. Watching sports, playing video games, watching television and movies, drinking beer and listening to music – no matter what you do in your leisure time, you've earned it, and it's important to enjoy it and not take it for granted.
Time is lunar
Breaking up is hard but keeping dark is hateful
This performance of David Bowie's classic “Time” is from the last ever show from his famous Spiders from Mars. If you haven't heard the original version from 1973's Aladdin Sane check it out now (in addition to the rest of the album, it rocks). If you want a laugh, check out a version of it that ridiculously changes “wanking” to “swanking” in the lyrics and has weird backing dancers.
This song brought up so many emotions in me that I'll be doing a piece on it for tomorrow's Weekday Ramble. Stay tuned.
